Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) became the fourth Dartmouth golfer to win the Ivy League men's championship by claiming the 2009 Ivy League Men's Golf Championship by defeating Eric Salazar of Princeton in a three-hole playoff after entering the third round with a one-stroke lead over Salazar. Both players finished the first 54 holes with a score of 211, one under par for the tournament. Williamson (69-69-73) beat Salazar on the third hole of the playoff to become the first Big Green Ivy champion since Bryan Kim in 1995.
Dartmouth entered the final round two strokes behind Penn for first place. The Green fell to third place (293-280-291 ? 864) while Columbia (858) edged Penn (859) by one stroke to win the team championship for the second consecutive season.
Alex Abate (Augusta, Ga.) finished seven strokes behind Williamson with a score of 218 (74-69-75), tying for 14th overall.
Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.), who shot a team-low 71 in the third round, also shot 218 (76-71-71) for the tournament.
Rob Henley (Longmeadow, Mass.) was just one shot behind his teammates with a tournament score of 219 (74-71-74).
Dave Putney (Unionville, Conn.) rounded out the Dartmouth team with a score of 226 (81-72-73).
