HANOVER, N.H. - The Big Green sailing team finished sixth out of 15 at the Women's New England Champoinship this weekend at Vermont, which qualifies Dartmouth for the ICSA Women's National Semifinals on May 25th in San Francisco.
Junior Becca Dellenbaugh (Easton, Conn.) with crew members senior Sarah Johnston (Carson City, Nev.) and junior Steph Gagnon (Westerly, R.I.), was second by a point in B-Division and won four out of 11 races to give the Big Green its sixth-place finish. Dellenbaugh and Johnston were also named to the All-New England Women's Team for their outstanding performances throughout the year. In the A-Division, senior Kendall Reiley (Marblehead, Mass.) with team members Anne Megargel (Charlottesville, Va.), Johnston, sophomore Alexandra Hiller (Pennington, N.J.) and Gagnon finished in 11th, earning 93 points towards the final total of 139
“It was a real team effort for us this weekend,” said co-head coach John Pearce. “Due to the variety of both light and heavy wind conditions, all six of our top women sailors raced at some point and made important contributions. We are really excited for the Women's Nationals in San Francisco next month."
