HANOVER, N.H. – This past weekend, the Dartmouth sailing team continued its fall season at two regattas, the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1 hosted by Yale and the Stu Nelson Women's hosted by Connecticut College.

The Big Green finished third at Yale to qualify for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship, adding an 11th place finish at Connecticut College.

Dartmouth posted 88 total points in the first round of the Open Atlantic Coast Championship this weekend, scoring 39 A Division points, the third best score, and 49 B Division points.

Both Division got off to a slow start, posting eighth place, 12th place, and seventh place finishing positions through the first three races to sit in seventh place. Back-to-back third place finishing positions in the second B Division race and third A Division race bumped them into third place, just one point out of third overall.

Eight of the remaining nine races saw the Big Green finish in the top ten, finishing in the top five in six of them. The B Division earned two straight second place finishing positions in their fourth and fifth races, helping Dartmouth secure third place.

The top nine teams from both semifinals will compete in the Open Atlantic Coast Championship in two weeks at Navy. The Big Green will be joined by Roger Williams, Stanford, Penn, Cornell, Jacksonville, Yale, MIT, and Hobart and William Smith from their semifinal and Brown, Harvard, Charleston, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Boston College, Navy, Coast Guard, Tulane, and Bowdoin.

The Big Green also competed at the Stu Nelson Women's, posting 72 A Division points, 64 B Division points and 70 C Division points for 206 total points and 11th place.

11 of the Big Green's 21 races were top ten finishes. The A Division's best finish was third in their third race, the B Division's was fifth in their fifth race, and the C Division's was fourth in their third race.

Dartmouth sailing will return to action next weekend, competing at three regattas. The weekend will be highlighted by the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by MIT in which the Big Green qualified for after winning their semifinal two weeks ago.
The Big Green will also compete at the Savin Hill Invite on Saturday at Boston College and host the Captain Hurst Trophy at the Michels Boathouse.
