BROCKTON, Mass. ? Seniors Lauren Strickler (Akron, Ohio) and Tory Sheppard (Fishers, Ind.), along with freshman Kathleen Quirk (Kansas City, Mo.) each shot a nine-over 81 on Saturday to lead Dartmouth to fourth place after the first day of competition at the Brown Invitational held at Thorny Lean Golf Course in Brockton, Mass. The Big Green as a team shot a 333 (+45) for the day, while Harvard paced the five-team field at 309 (+21).

Harvard's Emily Balmert leads the individuals with a two-over 74.

Rounding out the Dartmouth squad were sophomore Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) with an 84 (+12), while freshman Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) each finished the day at 15-over par with an 87.

Host Brown is a distant second behind Harvard with a 327, 18 strokes off the pace. The invitational will conclude tomorrow.
