BROCKTON, Mass. ? The Big Green women's golf team cut 12 shots off their first-round score on the second day of the inaugural Brown Invitational, moving up to a third-place finish amongst the five teams competing with a team score of 654 (333-321).
Senior
Lauren Strickler (Akron, Ohio) led the Dartmouth team, finishing in fifth place overall with a score of 158 (81-77). Classmate
Tory Sheppard (Fishers, Ind.) tied for an eighth-place finish with a two-day total of 160 (81-79).
Freshman
Kathleen Quirk (Kansas City, Mo.), who also shot an 81 in the first round, finished 16th with a total of 164.
Katharine Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) posted a score of 165 to tie for 17th overall. Teammates
Heather Roland (Newton Square, Pa.) and
Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) were separated by one shot, with Roland came into the clubhouse with a score of 171 (87-84) and 21st overall while Smith tied for 22nd with a score of 172 (87-85) through the 36-hole tournament.
Harvard dominated the tournament. On its way to claiming the team title with an overall score of 611 (309-302), four members of the Crimson team claimed the top four individual spots. Emily Balmert was the tournament medalist, shooting a par 144 (74-70) and winning by eight strokes.
Boston College finished in second with a team total of 645 (328-317) while Brown finished fourth with a score of 660 (327-333) and Boston University rounded out the field with a score of 692 (347-345).
Dartmouth will host the Dartmouth Triangular on Cape Cod April 11 and 12.
