This Time Out: For the second-straight season Dartmouth (1-1) heads south to the University of Virginia's Nike Soccer Classic. This time, the Big Green won't face the Cavaliers but a pair of Big East foes in Seton Hall (3-1) and #12 West Virginia (2-1-2) await. This weekend begins a six-game road swing for the Dartmouth women, who will look to get back in the win column after a 1-1 opening weekend in Hanover. Dartmouth faces Seton Hall on Friday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. before taking on #12 West Virginia on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. The Big Green has never faced either opponent on the soccer field. Seton Hall's only loss of the season came at the hands of Maryland while West Virginia has knocked off #5 Penn State and tied Ohio State and Boston University.
Last Time Out: Dartmouth picked up a split in its opening weekend of the season, defeating Maine 3-1 and falling to San Diego State 1-0. It was all Big Green in the opener, with three different players scoring with assists from three different teammates to top Maine. Myra Sack (Wynnewood, Pa.) picked up where she left off last year, scoring the first goal of the season while Peyton Tata (Virginia Beach, Va.) netted the game-winner and Aly O'Dea (Irvine, Calif.) added an insurance tally. Two days later, it was a tale of two halves in the 1-0 loss to visiting San Diego State. The Big Green controlled the first half, but several near misses kept Dartmouth off the board. The Aztecs, playing their sixth game, used their game experience to date to pick up the pace in the second half. The teams appeared headed for overtime as Dartmouth withstood a late SDSU attack but the Aztecs found the goal in the final minute, scoring the winner with 42 seconds left to play.
Next Time Out: Dartmouth will have a short time back home in Hanover before heading west to the Oregon State Classic. The Big Green takes on the host Oregon State as well as the University of Oregon in what should prove a pair of big early season tests. Dartmouth returns home to the East coast the following week but hits the road at regional rival Boston University on Sept. 24 and at Brown for its Ivy opener on Sept. 27.
