HANOVER, N.H. – Canada announced its 2026 Winter Olympic teams on Jan. 26, giving Bianca Ribi '18 the opportunity to represent her country for the first time as a pilot in the two-person bobsleigh.
During her time in Hanover, Ribi spent all four years on the women's soccer team, making 42 appearances for the Big Green. In her senior season, the Calgary, Alberta native started 13 of 17 games, led the team in assists and took 36 shots, finishing the season with a .472 shot on goal percentage.
Since graduating, Ribi has competed in three consecutive International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation World Championships as a pilot. Ribi's first IBSF World Cup race as a pilot was one to remember as she won the women's monobob event in Whistler in November 2022. During the 2022-23 season, she earned three top five finishes in two-woman events, highlighted by a fourth-place finish with Haughey in Lake Placid. She was back on the World Cup circuit in 2023-24, earning four top 10 finishes, two each in monobob and two-woman.
Ribi posted her best monobob finish in 2023, placing ninth, and matched that result in the two-woman event in 2024 alongside brakewoman Niamh Haughey. The duo also competed at the 2021 IBSF Junior World Championships, finishing ninth in the two-woman event. Earlier in her career, Ribi appeared at the 2019 IBSF Senior World Championships as a brakewoman in the team event.
Her first IBSF World Cup start as a pilot was one to remember, as she captured the women's monobob victory in November 2022. During the 2022-23 season, Ribi recorded three top five finishes in two-woman competition, highlighted by a fourth place showing with Haughey in Lake Placid.
