ST. MICHAEL'S, Md. — Freshman
Emily Hyman (Chappaqua, N.Y.) paced the Dartmouth women's golf squad in her first collegiate round, shooting an 82 on the par-70 at the Harbourtowne Golf Resort on Monday afternoon. The Big Green finished the first day of the tournament in sixth place out of the 10 participating teams with a 338.
The Yale Bulldogs completed the first round ahead of the field with a 298, led by Alexandra Lipa's low score, a one-under 69.
Hyman stands in a tie for 22nd place with her opening score, while junior co-captain
Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) rebounded after shooting 45 on her first nine to score a 38 over the final nine for an 83, good for a tie for 24th. Sophomore
Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) carded an 86 to tie for 33rd place, and rookie
Colleen Carroll (Bettendorf, Iowa) was one stroke behind her in a tie for 38th. Rounding out the scores for the Big Green was sophomore
Kathleen Quirk (Kansas City, Mo.) with a 93.
Dartmouth also had three players shoot as individuals, and freshman
Julie Campbell (Bozeman, Mont.) put up the best score of the day for the Big Green with a 79, tying her for 13th place. Other Dartmouth scores came from sophomore
Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.) with an 84 and freshman
Amber Hardemann (Murphy, Texas) with a 92.
The tournament will finish up tomorrow with the first group teeing off at 8 a.m.
