PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Dartmouth women's volleyball team won convincingly on Tuesday against Providence College (4-9). The Friars were never really in the match as the Big Green won, 25-13, 25-9, 25-19. The victory helps snap a four-match losing streak for Dartmouth as the Big Green now stands at 3-4 on the season.
Madeline Baird (Austin, Texas) recorded a game-high 14 kills while Megan MacGregor (Carlsbad, Calif.) had a game-high 10 digs. Kendall Houston (Austin, Texas) was tops for both teams with 28 assists. Dartmouth recorded eight service aces while helping Providence make six serving errors.
In the first set the Big Green jumped out to a quick lead and the Friars were never able to get closer than 4-3. In the second Morgan Covington (Katy, Texas) helped Dartmouth jump out to an 11-6 lead by serving eight straight points. Houston served seven straight points late in the match as the Big Green won easily. In the last set the two sides played fairly evenly early on as the Friars never allowed Dartmouth to go up by more than two points. But a kill and a service ace by Baird helped give the Big Green a 13-9 lead. PC got to within three at 16-19 but never got closer.
Dartmouth will be back in action on Friday and Saturday hosting the Dartmouth Invitational. Northeastern, Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut State will all be in town for the Invitational.
