HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth field hockey team dropped a hard-fought 3-1 Ivy League contest to the visiting Yale Bulldogs on Saturday at Chase Field. Virginia Peisch (Koenigstein, Germany) tallied the lone goal for the Big Green.
Peisch gave the home team an early lead midway through the first half. Dartmouth had its first corner of the game with Peisch there for the second chance goal, just her fourth of the season.
Yale answered almost immediately off its own corner goal, tying the contest as the two stayed that way going into halftime. The Bulldogs held the advantage in both shots (7-2) and penalty corners (4-1) at the break.
The visitors came out in the second half and scored in the 45th and 56th minutes to put the game away as Yale impored to 7-6 overall, 3-1 in the Ivy League. Erin Carter potted two of Yale's goals with Dinah Landshut getting two assists and Johna Paolino scoring the third goal.
The Big Green (8-5, 2-2 Ivy) had five straight corners in the second half as Peisch was able to get the ball on net a few times but had every opportunity thwarted. Dartmouth continued to try to get the goals back but could not find an answer for Yale netminder, Katie Bolling.
Bolling finished with four saves while Megan Vakiener (Port Murray, N.J.) had two for Dartmouth.
The Big Green continues with Ivy League action next weekend, traveling to Columbia on Oct. 24 for a 1:00 pm matchup.
