Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) and sophomore
Owen Lynch (Rumford, R.I.) both fired a one-under 69 on Sunday at The Macdonald Cup, lifting Dartmouth from a tie for eighth to a tie for fifth. The Big Green ended the 36-hole tournament hosted by Yale with a 587 (+27), 22 strokes behind the team champion, St. John's, but just seven strokes behind the second-place Bulldogs.
Joining the four Red Storm golfers among the top nine was Williamson, who followed up his first-round 73 (+3) with a 69 (-1) to tie for seventh at two-over par (142). Lynch improved eight strokes from the first day with his 69 to vault among the top 20 at six-over par (146), tying for 18th.
Both sophomore
James Pleat (Nashua, N.H.) and senior
Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) carded a seven-over 77 today, ending the tournament in a tie for 27th with a 149 and a tie for 34th with a 150, respectively.
Kevin Josephson of Central Connecticut State was the only golfer among the 74 competing to shoot under par in both rounds, winning medalist honors with a 67-69—136 (-4), two strokes ahead of Binghamton's Jake Katz and St. John's Evan Beirne.
Dartmouth will play again at the Big 5 Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa.
