It was a closely contested game as Dartmouth (9-6-1, 3-3 Ivy) outshot Cornell (4-8-4, 0-5-1 Ivy), 11-9. Dartmouth also held the slight advantage in corner kicks, 6-5.
Olsen tallied his second game-winning goal of the season in just the 11th minute of the contest, connecting from six yards out off a cross from junior Maarten van Ess (Marlborough, Mass.).
Dartmouth senior Lyman Missimier (The Woodlands, Texas) was solid in goal, making two saves to earn the shutout win. Cornell's Scott Brody started in goal on senior night and made three saves before Rick Pflasterer played the final 15 minutes and made one stop.
The teams battled hard to the wire, including changes for both squads in the final four minutes. Cornell had two shots blocked in quick succession late and Dartmouth junior Lucky Mkosana (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) had his team-high fifth shot of the game saved by Pflasterer in the last minute.
The Big Green has a chance to reach the 10-win mark for the 12th time in history and for the fourth-straight season next Saturday, Nov. 13 when it hosts Brown at 4 p.m.
