WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Dartmouth women's golf team opened up its spring season on Saturday at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary, ending the day in a tie for 15th place out of 21 teams with a 339 (+57). Sophomore Heather Roland (Newton Square, Pa.) posted an eight-over 80 to lead the Big Green on the first day of competition.
Roland goes into the second and final day of the tournament in a tie for 28th. Junior captain Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) was just one stroke behind Roland, firing a strong 37 over the first nine holes before registering an 81 (+9), tying for 35th.
Others competing for the Big Green were freshman Emily Hyman (Chappaqua, N.Y.) with an 88 (+16), and sophomore Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) and freshman Colleen Carroll (Bettendorf, Iowa) with identical 90s (+18).
St. John's leads the field heading into the final round on Sunday with a 307 (+19), just one stroke ahead of host William & Mary and Longwood. The leading individual is Samantha Morrell of Old Dominion at three-under par.
