Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1

3/22/2010 8:00:00 AM | Men's Tennis
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Dartmouth men's tennis team got a great performance from senior Dan Freeman (Chatsworth, Calif.), but the Big Green couldn't pull off the victory in a 4-3 loss to Nevada. The teams record moves to 8-4 on the season and 1-2 on the west coast trip.
With Freeman and sophomore Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) filling in for juniors Stephen Greif (San Antonio, Texas) and Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y.) at the top doubles spot, the pair earned a tight 8-7 win. However, Dartmouth dropped the next two doubles matches and the Wolfpack came away with the important doubles point.
In singles, Freeman got the Big Green even with a solid straight set victory at the No. 1 spot with a 6-4, 6-3 win. His serve was a main reason for the victory as he was hitting spots and getting many free points. Nevada took care of Dartmouth in the next three matches, but sophomore Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) and senior Jeff Friedman (Westport, Conn.) got the Big Green back into the match with convincing straight set wins. It was too late however as Dartmouth fell 4-3.
Tomorrow the Big Green faces UC San Diego at the LaJolla Beach and Tennis Club. The first toss goes up at 1 p.m.
