Men's Tennis Earns Decisive Win Over UC San Diego

LA JOLLA BEACH, Calif. - The Dartmouth men's tennis team moved to 2-1 on its west coast trip with a convincing 6-1 win against the University of California at San Diego. Overall the Big Green improves to 9-4 on the season.

The doubles play started strong for the Big Green with senior Dan Freeman (Chatsworth, Calif.) and sophomore Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) winning going away with an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 spot. It took a significant effort to bring home the doubles team point with the team of junior captain Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y.) and Mike Jacobs (Oak Park, Ill.) taking home a win at the No. 3 position by the score of 8-6.

In singles, Freeman brought the Green to a 2-0 advantage in a hurry with a 6-1, 6-2, straight set win at the top spot. Freshman Xander Centenari (Towson, Md.) followed Freeman's victory with a solid 6-0, 6-1, victory at the No. 4 spot. Laser put the fourth point on the board for Dartmouth at the No. 2 spot with another straight set victory.

Tomorrow is a day off for Dartmouth and Wednesday the Big Green will face a tough Loyola Marymount squad on its home court at 1 p.m.
