Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1

4/3/2010 10:37:00 AM | Men's Tennis
ITHACA, NY - The Dartmouth men's tennis team won the doubles point, but could not hold down Cornell in singles play and dropped a 5-2 decision to the Big Red in the Ivy League opener.
Junior Stephen Greif (San Antonio, Texas) and junior captain Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y.) clinched the doubles point in an exciting 8-6 victory. Their match followed a great performance by sophomore Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) and freshman Alex de Chatellus (Tiburon, Calif.) at the No. 3 spot who finished off their Big Red opponents 8-1.
Unfortunately, Xander Centenari (Towson, Md.) was the only Green player to win his first set. He did drop the second set but rallied to dominate the third. Sophomore Mike Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) dropped his first set, but came back strong in the second set, taking it to three. However, serving 5-6 his Cornell opponent came up with a couple of big points to win the match and secure the Cornell's fourth and decisive point.
Today, the Big Green takes on the first place Columbia Lions at 2 p.m. in New York City.
