PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 4 Princeton Tigers (4-0, 1-0 Ivy) used their top-rated offense to snap Dartmouth field hockey's four-game win streak on Friday at the Class of '52 Field in Princeton. The Tigers took a 9-1 victory over the Big Green (4-1, 0-1 Ivy) in their best offensive production of the season.
Senior Virginia Peisch (Koenigstein, Germany) tallied the lone goal for the Big Green as she took a rebound shot on Dartmouth's fourth corner of the game.
Kathleen Sharkey led Princeton with three goals as Katie Reinprecht had two for the home team. Eight Princeton players recorded at least one point as the Tigers led at the break, 6-0.
Peisch recorded her second goal of the season early in the second half as shots by Kelly Hood (Berlin, N.H.), Meghan Everett (Flemington, N.J.) and Kerry Bracco (Hampton Falls, N.H.) had the Big Green putting pressure on the Princeton goalie.
Princeton led in shots on goal, 19-3 and had 28 total shots to Dartmouth's seven. The Tigers also held a 10-6 advantage in corners.
In goal, Meagan Vakiener (Port Murray, N.J.) finished with nine saves for the Big Green.
Dartmouth will be back in action next weekend with an Ivy contest against Brown on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 12:00 p.m. and then on Sunday, Sept. 26 against Holy Cross at 2 p.m.
