HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's indoor track and field team won the Dartmouth Relays on Sunday, besting 20 other teams. The win is the first for the Big Green at the Relays since 2007. Dartmouth finished with 107 points, Northeastern placed second with 90.50 points and Boston College finished in third with 56 points.
The highlight of the event for the Big Green was probably the 3000 meter race. Dartmouth took the top five spots in the race and gained 30 points in just that event. Junior Amy Schuman (Lee, N.H.) won the race with a time of 10:04.66. In the weight throw, senior Christina Alexander finished 5th with a throw of 15.56m (51-00.75). The winning throw came from Althea Charles of Northeastern at 18.29m (60-00.25). In the 400 meter, senior Alexandra Tanner (Baltimore, Md.) beat fellow Big Green runner Megan Krumpoch (Shrewsbury, Mass.) to claim the top spot.
Dartmouth had plenty of second place finishers besides Krumpch. Freshman Katelyn Walker (Shaker Heights, Ohio) finished second in the mile at 4:59.52, sophomore Katie Sullivan (Carmel, N.Y.) placed second in the 3000 meter and the team of Tanner, Krumpoch, Kaleigh Wood (Shortsville, N.Y.) and Christina Supino (Windham, N.H.) finished just behind UMass Lowell in the 4x400 relay.
The Big Green return to action on Saturday, Jan. 15, when they host Vermont and Maine at 12 p.m.
