CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Dartmouth men's lightweight rowing team took eighth place in the lightweight eight competition and finished in 12th place in the lightweight four at the annual Head of the Charles regatta on Sunday.
The men's eight had the best finish of the Dartmouth boats with an eighth place finish with a time of 15:10.75. In the collegiate competition, the Big Green placed just behind crews from Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Brock and the U.S. Naval Academy.
The lightweight eight was comprised of Andrea Daley (cox), Josh Konieczny, Henry Luehrman, Phil Grisdela, Ian Accomando, Julian Danziger, Sam Morris, Brendan Murphy and Drew Wong.
"I'm pleased with the eights result," said head coach Dan Roock. "The crew showed a lot of speed for the cadence (31.5 strokes per minute) that I assigned, and their motion was fundamentally sound. For this time of year, the crew's performance was very good."
In the fours competition, the Big Green took a 12th place finish with a time of 18:01.36, which was sixth among the collegiate crews. The four lineup included: Daniel Berman (cox), Josh Sans, Ken Greim, James Mock, Hunter Kappel
"I'm also pleased with the fours result," said Roock. "Like the 8+, for this time of year with not much time to prepare, I think this was a good result."
Dartmouth will be back on the water next week when it heads to the Princeton Chase on Sunday (Oct. 30).
