To Salvage A Road Trip
• In each of the first two games of this three-game swing in New York, Dartmouth has led in the final three minutes only to fall short in the end.
• On Monday, the Big Green held a three-point lead with 6.3 seconds to play, but Colgate hit 3-of-4 free throws in that span to tie the game before winning in overtime.
• Two days ago, Dartmouth was up by six with 4:30 on the clock and by two with 2:20 to go only to have Army rally for a 67-64 win.
• Freshman Jvonte Brooks has played well in both games, recording his second double-double of the season with 12 points and a season-high 12 rebounds at Colgate, then equaling a season-high with 13 points while hauling in eight boards against the Black Knights.
• Junior R.J. Griffin is the lone Big Green player scoring in double figures this year (10.3 ppg) after tallying a game-high 15 points at Army thanks to a 4-of-9 performance from behind the arc.
• Dartmouth drilled 12-of-28 three-pointers against the Black Knights, its most trifectas since draining 12 in a 100-82 loss at Providence on Nov. 18, 2008.
• Five different players scored at least 10 points in the loss to Army, the most for the Big Green since six pulled off the feat in a win over Colgate in November of 2010.
Series vs. Albany
• While Dartmouth has lost the last two games to the Great Danes, it does own a 4-3 edge in the all-time series. All but one of those games was played between 2000 and 2004.
• The Big Green are 1-3 at SEFCU Arena, including a triple-overtime loss (one of three such games in Dartmouth history) in January of 2003.
• The first game took place 84 years ago here in Albany, a 43-23 Big Green triumph.
• The lone Dartmouth win at this venue came in 2001 by a 72-58 final.
Scouting the Great Danes
• It's been an up-and-down season for Albany. alternating wins and losses save for one two-game winning streak to enter this game at 6-5. Last time out it won its first true road game, topping St. Francis (N.Y.) by 12, 76-64.
• The Great Danes have played two Ivy teams already this year, earning a neutral-site win over Brown and dropping an overimte game at Cornell.
• Three players dominate the scoring for Albany, led by star guard Gerardo Suero at 21.4 ppg. Suero is very adept at getting to the foul line, averaging nearly eight free throws made a night.
• Logan Aronhalt is the outside sharpshooter with 26 triples on the season at a 36.6 percent clip while scoring 15.2 ppg.
• The other player averaging in double figures is Mike Black at 11.5 points.
• Center Blake Metcalf is the top rebounder at 5.4 boards per game, while Suero is close at 5.1.
• The Great Danes are an excellent free throw shooting team at 74.0 percent. Their opponents have helped them out quite a bit by sinking just 57.9 percent of their foul shots.
• Albany is coached by Will Brown (Dowling '95), now in his 11th year with a 135-170 record. Twice he has led the Great Danes to an America East championship and ensuing trips to the NCAA Tournament. He is 2-1 against Dartmouth
Dartmouth, Cormier vs. America East
Dartmouth has played 232 games against teams currently in the America East Conference with an overall record of 130-102. And this will be the 40th game Paul Cormier coaches against a current America East team, having gone 23-16 to date, but his first meeting with Albany.
Five With 10 Not Enough at Army
For the first time in over a year, Dartmouth had five players score in double figures in one game, but Army countered with two scoring 20 to fend off the Big Green on Dec. 21, 67-64. Junior R.J. Griffin led the quintet with 15 points, freshman Jvonte Brooks equaled a season high with 13, and three others posted 10 — senior Jabari Trotter, and freshmen John Golden and Mack McKearney, the last of whom recorded a season-high.
A Three A Dozen
The Big Green had their perimeter game sizzling at Army on Dec. 21 as five players combined to drop 12 three-pointers through the net in 28 attempts (.429), four by junior R.J. Griffin. It was the most triples in a game for Dartmouth since Nov. 18, 2008 when it hit on 12 at Providence. The Green have reached double digits twice this year (10 vs. San Francisco), but just 11 times in the past eight seasons, posting a 3-8 record in those games.
Heartbreak Hotel
Dartmouth has been in position to win quite a few games on the road, owning a lead with less than three minutes to play in each of the last three games away from home and four of the last five. Yet each time, the Big Green have been unable to seal the deal:
| Opponent | Last Lead | Time Lost | Final |
| New Hampshire | 1 | 2:45 | 50-53 |
| IPFW | 1 | 2:43 | 51-56 |
| Colgate | 2 | 0:03 | 55-61 |
| Army | 2 | 2:18 | 64-67 |
