Complete Game Notes
Making Themselves at Home
• The Big Green have played just three of their 13 games at home this year, but now have a stretch of four at Leede Arena among the next five.
• Two of Dartmouth's three wins this year have come in Hanover — 66-62 over Bryant and 62-54 against Elon.
• The Green are coming off a three-game swing in New York, the most recent an 82-74 loss at Albany despite hitting 12-of-20 three-pointers.
• Dartmouth has had 12 threes in each of the last two games, a total it had reached just once in the previous 227 games.
• Senior Jabari Trotter was a big part of the three-point barrage at Albany, connecting on 5-of-6 and 8-of-10 overall in tallying a season-high 22 points, just two shy of his career high.
• For the fifth time in seven weeks, Dartmouth had a player earn the Ivy League Rookie of the Week award as Jvonte Brooks nearly averaged a double-double during the New York trip (12 points, 9.3 rebounds).
• While Dartmouth enjoyed its best shooting performance of the year (.491 on FGs), the Great Danes popped 10 threes as well, the most by a Big Green opponent, and went 20-of-21 (.952) at the free throw line.
Series vs. Holy Cross
• Even though these two haven't met on the hardwood in nearly seven years, Dartmouth has not played another team outside the Ivy League more times than the Crusaders (97 games, Vermont is second with 96).
• Holy Cross holds a sizable 66-31 advantage against the Big Green, including victories in the last three clashes.
• The last Dartmouth win in the series came just over 10 years ago on Nov. 27, 2001 in a 58-47 triumph here at Leede Arena.
• The Crusaders won the initial meeting, 25-18, on Dec. 17, 1901.
• In Hanover, the series is tied at 25-25, but Dartmouth owns a slight 5-4 edge in Leede Arena.
Scouting the Crusaders
• Holy Cross, coming off a solid 88-83 home win over San Francisco (a team that beat Dartmouth by two at a neutral site), has not strung together consecutive victories this season.
• The Ivy League is 2-0 against the Crusaders this year with Harvard (73-64) and Columbia (46-45) knocking them off.
• The Harvard win is the only loss at home for Holy Cross, which is still looking for its first road win of the season (0-6).
• Guard Devin Brown leads the three Crusaders scoring in double figures at 14.3 points per game. He also is the top three-point threat with 25 triples, more than twice any of his teammates.
• Forwards R.J. Evans (12.6 ppg) and Dave Dudzinski (10.0) have combined to shoot 50 percent from the floor.
• In late-game fouling situations, Dartmouth would be wise not to hack Dudzinski (83.8 FT pct.) or Justin Burrell (82.1 pct.).
• Dudzinski is the Crusaders' top rebounder at 6.9 per game, while Eric Obeysekere comes off the bench to snare 5.1 on average.
• Holy Cross is coached by Milan Brown, in his second season with a 13-28 record and 108-148 overall which includes seven seasons at Mount St. Mary's. In 2007-08, he led the Mountaineers to their first NCAA Tournament win.
Dartmouth, Cormier vs. Patriot
Dartmouth has played nearly 200 games against teams currently in the Patriot League with an overall record of 74-124. Nearly half (97) of those meetings have come against Holy Cross. Head coach Paul Cormier is 10-13 against Patriot teams and 3-3 versus Holy Cross.
A Double Dozen
In consecutive games at Army and Albany in mid-December, the Big Green drained 12 three-pointers against each foe. First, Dartmouth needed 28 attempts to get those dozen treys against the Black Knights, then required just 20 long-range tries versus the Great Danes. The Green had hit on 12 just once in the previous 227 contests, that coming on Nov. 18, 2008 at Providence. But all those trifectas couldn't send the Green home with a win as they lost each of those games.
Trotter Approaches a Run
At Albany on Dec. 23, senior Jabari Trotter rarely missed when he lined up a shot, connecting on 8-of-10 from the floor and a sizzling 5-of-6 from downtown for a season-high 22 points. It was just two points shy of his personal best set last year at Hartford, and just the second 20-point game by any Big Green player this season, joining R.J. Griffin who had 29 against Bryant.
Fifth Big Green Rookie in 7 Weeks
The season is seven weeks old, and Dartmouth has now had one of its freshmen earn the Ivy League Rookie of the Week award five times. The most recent honoree is Jvonte Brooks, who nearly averaged a double-double on the three-game New York swing. First he registered a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double in an overtime loss at Colgate, then tallied 11 points and grabbed eight boards at Army. He capped the week by equaling his season high with 13 points while snaring eight rebounds again, giving him a 12-point, 9.3-rebound average.
