PRINCETON, N.J. — The Dartmouth men's golf team finished up play at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday afternoon, placing sixth among the 12 competing teams. Junior
Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) led the Big Green for the third straight round, shooting even par today to finish third in the individual standings at two-under par, three strokes behind Yale's Sam Bernstein.
Williamson entered the final day in a three-way tie for first with Yale teammates Bernstein and Tom McCarthy. While Williamson carded a solid final round, Bernstein shot three-under par to best him and McCarthy, who completed the 18 holes with a one-under 70.
The best round of the invitational was turned in by Penn's Max Marsico, who tore up the Springdale Golf Course with a seven-under 64 today. Marsico improved by seven strokes between each round, but settled for a sixth-place finish while helping the Quakers come in second place, six strokes behind Yale, which won the team title with an 848 (-4). No other team was within even 35 strokes of the Bulldogs.
Both senior
Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) and sophomore
James Pleat (Nashua, N.H.) shot a 76 (+5) on Sunday, while sophomore
Andrew Jankowski (Elkins, N.H.) posted a 79 (+8) and freshman Joe Mazier (Atlanta, Ga.) ended the afternoon with an 83 (+12).
Pleat tied for 22nd overall with a 222 (+9), Jankowski tied for 40th with a 228 (+15) with Mullany one stroke behind him in a tie for 45th, and Mazier carded a 239 (+26) top place 65th.
Also competing for the Big Green as individuals were freshman
Gavin Duarte (Diamond Bar, Calif.) in a tie for 53rd with a 233 (+20), junior
Teddy Overton (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) in 55th with a 234 (+21) and sophomore
Owen Lynch (Rumford, R.I.) in 67th with a 244 (+31).
Next up for the Dartmouth golf team is the Century Intercollegiate next weekend in Purchase, N.Y.
