PRINCETON, N.J. — The Dartmouth women's track and field team competed at the Larry Ellis on Saturday and senior Alex Tanner (Baltimore, Md.) led the team by winning the 400 hurdles and setting a new school record.
In the 400 hurdles, Tanner crossed the finish line at 59.03 to win the event. She was the only Big Green athlete to take home a first-place finish. Tanner topped her own school record in the race. Last season, she had with a time of 59.04. She has the top four times in school history and is the only runner with a time below one minute.
Junior Christina Supino (Windham, N.H.) took fourth in the 800 meters at 2:12.57. In the 1500-meter run, freshman Abbey D'Agostino (Topsfield, Mass.) placed seventh at 4:24.01, and freshman Arianna Vailas (Manchester, N.H.) finished 10th at 4:25.42. The 4x400 relay team of senior Kaleigh Wood (Shortsville, N.Y.), freshman Megan Krumpoch (Shrewbury, Mass.), Supino and Tanner crossed the finish line eighth at 3:50.58.
In the field events, senior Christina Alexander (Austin, Texas) had the best day. She placed eighth in both the discus and the hammer throw. In the discus she had a throw of 41.42 meters (135-11.00 feet), and had a mark of 49.70 meters (163-01.00 feet) in the hammer. In the pole vault, sophomore Karla Verkouw (Lancaster, Pa.) took sixth at 3.70 meters (12-01.50 feet).
The Big Green compete at the Penn Relays and the UMass Invitational next weekend.
