Mangan Leads Big Green Performers at Twilight Meet

WALTHAM, MASS. — The Dartmouth men's track and field team competed at the Twilight Meet on Saturday, and freshman Steve Mangan (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) led the Big Green with a second-place finish in the 1,500 meters. The New Balance Boston Twilight Series consists of four meets, featuring mostly professional runners. Saturday marked the second meet in the series.
Dartmouth competed in only a couple of events with the most participants coming in the 1,500 meters. In the race, the Big Green had nine competitors in the 39-man race, and the team took three of the top 13 spots. Mangan finished second at 3:50.54, freshman John Bleday (Westwood, Mass.) placed 8th at 3:58.30 and freshman Matthew Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) took 13th at 4:00.62. Freshman Henry Sterling (South Freeport, Maine) finished sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:26.25.
The Big Green have six athletes competing at the NCAA East Regional at Bloomington, Ind. on May 26-28.
