Big Green Spend Weekend in the Carolinas at Two Meets

The Dartmouth outdoor track & field will split up this weekend between two different meets in North Carolina and South Carolina.

The Big Green men's and women's teams began the 2012 outdoor campaign just last weekend at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina and have stayed in the area in preparation for this weekend's slate of competition.

The two events this weekend are the Weems Baskin Invitational in Columbia, S.C., and the High Point VertKlasse Meet in High Point, N.C.

The Baskin Invite is hosted by the University of South Carolina and gets underway Friday afternoon, but Dartmouth's first day of competition will begin Saturday morning.

Nearly 30 schools will be in the South Carolina capitol competing at Baskin with Dartmouth the only Ivy League school appearing.

The VertKlasse Meet is named in honor of High Point alumnus and trustee Dick Vert, who was a member of the track & field team in the early 1960s. It marks the lone home meet of the season for the Panthers.

The feature events begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
