PRINCETON, N.J. - A day after the distance runners and throwers got the weekend started at Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational for the Dartmouth men's outdoor track & field team, the rest of the Big Green joined for Saturday's competition.
The meet, held at William Weever Stadium, was the first one of the season that featured, for the most part, the entire team.
Junior Connor Reilly (Niskayuna, N.Y) actually tied for second in the 100 meters with a time of 10.81, matching an unattached Kwesi Sarabo. Reilly won his heat and finished the event as the top collegiate runner.
Reilly also won his section of the 200 meters in 21.96 (+2.6) to finish six overall in a field of nearly 40 competitors.
Like Reilly, junior Tyrone DeSpenza (New Orleans, La.) finished first in his heat in both the 100 and 200 meters. In the 100, he ran a 11.13 to place 13th overall, while taking 10th in the 200 in 22.29.
Fellow junior Jacob Evanter (Marblehead, Mass.) earned a seventh-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles with a 15.40 (-0.4) with Brett Gilson (Richboro, Pa.) taking ninth in 15.96 (0.4) as both finished second in their respective heats.
Junior Mike Danaher (Clifton Park, N.Y.) was seventh in the 1,500 meters, crossing in 4:00.07.
In the high jump, freshman Jeremy Birck (Libertyville, Ill.) took home fifth as he cleared 6-4.25/1.94m on his second attempt at the height.
The Big Green are next scheduled to take to the track next Thursday with the 54th Annual Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif., at historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium The meet is set to get underway Thursday and continue through Saturday. The team is also set to host Vermont and Middlebury on Saturday in Hanover.
