NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth men's indoor track & field team continued its 2014-15 season on Thursday at the Elm City Challenge hosted by Southern Connecticut at the James W. Moore Field House.
Sophomore Nico Robinson was the lone member of the team to take part in the meet and sits in second place after the first day of competition in the heptathlon. Through four scored events, Robinson has 2,748 points and is just 28 points behind first-place Vinny Biunno of Franklin Pierce.
The Big Green sophomore took the top spot in the long jump with a 22-7.75/6.90m on his third and final attempt in the event, while he was second in the 55-meter dash, crossing in 6.77.
Robinson claimed third in the shot put with a 35-2.00/10.72m toss. He finished his first day of competition in New Haven with a fourth-place showing in the high jump, clearing 5-11.50/1.82 in his only try at the height.
Robinson will continue on Friday with the final three events (55m hurdles, pole vault, 1000m) while four members of Dartmouth's women's team will compete in the pentathlon.
