HANOVER, N.H. – It was announced Tuesday afternoon that Dartmouth's Abbey D'Agostino '14 has been selected as one of the top-30 honorees for the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
The Topsfield, Massachusetts, native and 2014 Dartmouth graduate was chosen as a conference representative in late July following an outstanding senior year that included a cross country national championship, two individual titles during the indoor season and four All-America honors over the course of three seasons.
Now in its 24th year, the NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female student-athletes for their achievements in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.
D'Agostino was one of 52 league representatives from Division I and 126 from all three levels of NCAA competition. That field of 126 candidates was narrowed down by 96 Tuesday with the Big Green's seven-time national champion earning one of the 10 spots from Division I.
In all, 446 schools nominated a female student-athlete for consideration.
From here, the Woman of the Year selection committee will choose and announce the top nine finalists (three from each division) at the end of September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will vote from amongst those nine finalists to determine the 2014 Woman of the Year.
The top-30 honorees will be recognized, and the winner announced, at the annual ceremony in Indianapolis on Sunday, Oct. 19.
