HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's track & field team placed first in a home meet against three teams Saturday afternoon at Leverone Field House.
The Big Green bested Maine (46), Vermont (40) and Colgate (13) in the second home meet in as many weeks, taking the top spot with 84 points.
Ten individual victories in the mile (Reid Watson, 4:55.17), 400m (Marissa Evans, 57.04), 500m (Erica Hendershot, 1:17.19), 60m (Kaitlin Whitehorn, 7.65), 800m (Meghan Grela, 2:18.31), 1000m (Abby Markowitz, 2:59.51), 200m (Jennifer Meech, 25.27), 3000m (Sarah Bennett, 9:57.58), triple jump (Molly Shapiro, 38-9.75/11.83m) and high jump (Whitehorn, 5-8.75/1.75m) highlighted the day for the team in green and white.
For Whitehorn, she continued the strong start to her 2014-15 indoor season with the two wins in the 60m and high jump, nearly setting a new PR in the latter.
The middle distance races were strong for Dartmouth on this day as it took the top-four slots in each, while earning the first five finishes in the 200m. The 3000m race saw similar results as the Big Green claimed the top-three spots.
After Whitehorn in the 60m, Sara Kikut was second in 7.93 to add another three points to the team total. Likewise, Allison Frantz took second in the high jump, one spot back of Whitehorn.
In addition to the 10 event titles, the Big Green's depth was on display as eight student-athletes took second in their respective events over the course of the day.
