BOSTON – At the first day of the Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center, the Dartmouth women's indoor track & field team put together several strong individual performances.
Dana Giordano's dominating win in the 3000m was the lone event victory of the day for the Big Green in the non-scoring meet, but that was just one of numerous highlights.
Giordano ran a 9:07.28 to best the field of 92 other student-athletes, and did so in convincing fashion. The second-place runner from a professional club was eight seconds back of the multi-time All-Ivy performer from the Upper Valley. Sarah B. DeLozier claimed 13th in the same event in 9:30.39, while Reid Watson (18th, 9:40.54), Alison Lanois (22nd, 9:46.29) and Claudia Pham (23rd, 9:46.48) also ran well for the Green and White.
Jennifer Meech was sixth in the 400m in 55.02, while Marissa Evans was 18th in the same event, crossing the line in 56.70. At the next distance, Erica Hendershot took eighth in the 500m with a 1:15.09 to her credit.
In the high jump, Dartmouth's Kaitlin Whitehorn claimed fourth as she cleared 5-7.0/1.70m on her second attempt at the height. The pole vault saw freshman Lyndsi Ross-Trevor take sixth as she managed to clear the bar at 11-9.75/3.60 on her second attempt as well.
The Terrier Invite continues Saturday afternoon in Boston with the men's team taking to the track.
