NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Against Ivy League rivals Yale and Columbia, the Dartmouth women's track & field team set the table for things to come the rest of the season, picking up a win Saturday at the Bulldogs' Coxe Cage.
The Big Green's win hardly seemed in doubt on this afternoon in the Elm City, posting 82 points to take the victory. Yale was second — 29 points back of Dartmouth — with 53 points, while the Lions were third with 46.
Where the men's team dominated the infield, the women were strong on the track, posting five individual event wins and one relay triumph. The Green and White also picked up a win and the five points in the pole vault as Lyndsi Ross-Trevor cleared 11-10 for the first-place showing.
On the track, Kaitlin Whitehorn won the 60m in 7.48, while Jennifer Meech took the top spot in the 400m with a 55.93 to her credit.
Points continued to come in as the event distances got longer with Erica Hendershot winning the 500m in 1:16.14 and Dana Giordano claiming the top spot in the mile. Competing for the first time since cross country nationals, Giordano posted a 4:43.05 in her first event of the indoor season.
Dartmouth's 4x400m relay team took the top spot with a 3:50.80.
The Big Green are at the Terrier Invitational next Saturday, Jan. 31 at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
