HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's basketball team will give a preview of the team this season when it hosts Keiser University on Thursday, Oct. 29 in an exhibition game at Leede Arena with tip-off at 7 p.m. Admittance is free to all patrons.
The Big Green advanced to the postseason last year for the first time since 1959 by finishing the regular season with a .500 record overall and in Ivy League play. In order to attain that record, Dartmouth had to win its final five contests, and in the process kept Yale from claiming the outright title in the final game of the regular season.
Fans that are used to seeing Gabas Maldunas, John Golden and Alex Mitola on the court will get to see a bit of a new look for the Green as that trio graduated last spring. But familiar faces will still be competing, headed by the leading returning scorer and rebounder in senior forward Connor Boehm, as well as sophomore wing Miles Wright, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
A total of 18 players grace the roster this winter, including three freshmen — guards Guilien Smith and Michael Stones, as well as highly touted forward Evan Boudreaux — that will get opportunities to display their skills during the exhibition.
The game will also serve as a reunion for the head coaches. Dartmouth's Paul Cormier was an assistant for Keiser head coach Rollie Massimino at Villanova before taking the Big Green post for the first time in 1984-85. Massimino went on to guide the Wildcats to a national championship that year with players that Cormier helped recruit.
Dartmouth will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 13 at Seton Hall of the Big East Conference.
