PRINCETON, N.J. — After a three-hour delay at the Princeton Invitational thanks to wet and windy conditions, sophomore Isabelle Kane led the Dartmouth women's golf team to a ninth-place finish with a 322 (+34) at the conclusion of the first round by firing a two-over 74 to put her in a tie atop the leaderboard. Tenley Shield of the host school was the only other golfer from the 15 schools to match her score at the Springfield Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.
Shield helped Princeton to a six-stroke lead by the end of the day over Columbia with a 306 (+18). Claiming third place was Rutgers at 27-over par with Yale and Harvard three strokes behind the Scarlet Knights.
Freshman Hana Bradshaw was one of nine golfers to tie for 29th, carding an 81 (+9) while classmate Julia Calbi was one stroke behind her in a tie for 38th. Rounding out the Big Green golfers were sophomore Jessica Kittelberger with an 85 (+13) and freshman Catharine Roddy with an 89 (+17).
The tournament will conclude on Sunday when Dartmouth tees off at 8:45 a.m.
