HANOVER, N.H. — The Ivy League announced its weekly award winners in men's basketball this afternoon, and two players were selected to share the Rookie of the Week honor, one of whom was Dartmouth forward
Evan Boudreaux. This is the fourth time in seven weeks that Boudreaux has earned the award, sharing it with Princeton guard Devin Cannady.
The Big Green played just one game with an abbreviated holiday schedule throughout the Ivy League, and Boudreaux shined in the 78-54 victory over Longwood on Dec. 22. The freshman led Dartmouth with 17 points and nine rebounds, hitting 4-of-8 field goals with a three-pointer while sinking 8-of-10 foul shots to account for his scoring. Boudreaux also scored seven of the final nine Big Green points of the first half as Dartmouth extended its lead from eight to 15 points by the intermission.
Boudreaux, who enters the week ninth in the Ivy League in scoring at 13.8 points per game and fourth in rebounding at 8.1 per contest, is the first Big Green freshman to earn the award four times in one season since both
Jvonte Brooks and
Gabas Maldunas accomplished the feat during the 2011-12 season. Dartmouth players took home the honor 10 times that season, and this year's team is halfway to that total with guard
Guilien Smith receiving the award last week as well.
Dartmouth (4-6) has one final game before the end of the calendar year, hosting Bryant (2-10) on New Year's Eve at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live via Big Green Insider on the Ivy League Digital Network with Jay Burnham calling the action.
