BOSTON – Curtis King ran a 4:01.45 and Joe Chapin posted a 4:02.48 in the mile Saturday night at BU's Valentine Invitational for the Dartmouth men's track & field team.
King's time was the seventh fastest in program history and a new PR for the junior from the Pacific Northwest, while Chapin's time is currently the 10th best ever by a Dartmouth student-athlete. King finished 15th and Chapin 18th in the field of 314 competitors that was comprised of both collegiate and unattached club runners.
Phil Gomez's fourth-place finish in the 500m was the best of the day in terms of the standings for the Big Green as he ran a 1:04.05 in the event.
Tim Brennan clamed ninth in the weight throw with a measurement of 56-3.75/17.16m on his second toss of the day.
The 4x400m relay team of Gomez, Ben Colello, Nicholas Creasman and Amos Cariati were also ninth as the quartet combined to run a 3:16.11 in their trips around the track at the BU Track & Tennis Center in the non-scoring meet.
Dom Filiano was 10th in the shot put with a 52-9.25/16.08m on his first throw of the day. Spencer Ross was 15th with a 49-3.50/15.02m — also on his first attempt of the afternoon.
The Big Green will now have a two-week break before returning to competition at the Ivy league Heptagonal Championship meet on Feb. 28-Mar. 1 at Harvard.
