HOUSTON, Texas – In its last non-conference match of the season, No. 39 Houston upset No. 29 Dartmouth Women's Tennis, 5-2, at the Houston Country Club on Saturday afternoon. The Green fell to 13-3, while the Cougars improved to 16-4.
The home team was victorious at the No. 1 and 3 doubles, both by scores of 8-4, to clinch the first point.
The Cougars got another point ahead with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 2 singles, but Dartmouth got back in the match when No. 103 Taylor Ng took down No. 42 Despoina Vogasari at No. 1, 6-3, 6-1.
Houston gained three more points with victories at No. 5, 3 and 6 to wrap things up. Senior Akiko Okuda won the Green's second and final point with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 victory over Rocio Martin at No. 4.
Dartmouth has just seven matches to go, all of which will be against conference rivals. The Big Green will be on the road for two straight, facing No. 60 Columbia at 2 p.m. on April 3 and Cornell at the same time the following day.
