Home Sweet Home — The Dartmouth Big Green will finally make their long-awaited home debut after 23 games away from Hanover. Although the record is three games under .500, the team has played well as of late after tough competition to start the season.
Weekly Honors — Senior Kristen Rumley and junior Katie McEachern were both honored this week by the Ivy League as the Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. Rumley finished the week 3-2 with a 3.87 earned run average, but she tossed a no-hitter in the series opener against Columbia. McEachern hit .684 with 13 hits in 19 at-bats.
Shh! Rums is throwing a no-no — Rumley joined four other pitchers in program history when she tossed a no-hitter against Columbia on Saturday. Dartmouth's all-time leader in starts, innings pitched, strikeouts and wins can now add another bullet point to her resume after she fanned nine batters in six innings.
Movin' on up — Over the past nine games, McEachern has moved from the third spot in the lineup to the leadoff position, which has almost turned around the season. When McEachern hit in the three hole, Dartmouth went 4-10, but since she's moved to the top the team is 6-3. Other lineup moves that have paid dividends have been sophomore Maddie Damore taking over McEachern's spot and freshman Lourlin Lara in between them batting second.
Fire up the Offense — During the Mid-Atlantic road trip the Big Green scored 66 runs at an average of 6.6 per contest. During the swing, the team scored a season-best 12 runs in a wild battle at George Washington. Other season-best achievements were 35 at bats against St. John's — an extra inning win — four doubles at Penn, seven walks at George Washington and three home runs against Columbia. Individually, sophomore Karen Chaw had five runs batted in against Maryland and McEachern had a pair of doubles in each game against Penn.
Streaking on the Green — McEachern currently has a 13-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 14 games. Last season, Morgan McCalmon had a 17-game hitting streak as a sophomore. Earlier in the season, Lara had a 10 game streak.
Da More More More — Damore is second on the team hitting .342 with four home runs and 12 runs batted in. As a rookie, Damore hit .230 with five home runs and 22 RBIs.
