Jazmine Esparza Joins Softball Staff as Assistant Coach

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth softball Head Coach Hillary Smith announced the addition of Jazmine Esparza to her staff as an assistant coach on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Esparza joins the Big Green from Colby Community College, where she had served as head coach since July 2024.

"Jazmine brings an incredible combination of competitiveness, character, and energy to Dartmouth softball," said Smith. "She is someone who will make the people around her better and will be a tremendous addition to our program and our Dartmouth community."

At Colby, Esparza led the team to multiple on-the-field and off-the-field achievements and mentored student-athletes to achieve all-conference honors and secure college athletic scholarships.

"I am beyond excited to join the coaching staff here at Dartmouth," said Esparza. "I have known Coach Smith for about 12 years, and coaching alongside her is a blessing. I am excited to see the vision she has for the program come to life."

Before Colby, Esparza spent two seasons, from August 2022 to July 2024, as an assistant coach at Kansas Wesleyan University and was an assistant coach at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California, in 2021-22.

As a student-athlete at the University of Central Florida, Esparza played during the 2017-2021 seasons. During her senior season, she played first base, catcher, and outfield, batting .349 and ranking 29th in the nation with 15 doubles. Esparza was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team, First Team All-Conference, and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mideast All-Conference.

Esparza graduated from UCF with a bachelor's degree in sports and exercise science in 2020, and from Kansas Wesleyan University with a master's degree in sports management in 2024.
