Dartmouth finishes the regular season with a 23-16 record and a 16-4 mark in Ivy League play. Harvard ends the year 23-21 and 13-7 in the league.
Freshman Tiffany Dyson and sophomore Chloe Madill each homered for the Big Green and pitchers senior Kristen Rumley and junior Morgan McCalmon put together a solid performance inside the circle.
Dyson's home run gave the Big Green a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning of the opener before Harvard tied the game and then won on a walk-off single by Adrienne Hume in the bottom of the seventh.
Rumley allowed two hits in four innings of work. Freshman Breanna Ethridge (0-1) took the loss and allowed all three runs on three hits. Harvard's Laura Ricciardone pitched a complete game and allowed two runs on four hits.
After the Crimson tied the game in the fifth on a two-RBI double by Katherine Callaway, the Big Green nearly recovered the lead but stranded runners in scoring position in the sixth.
In the nightcap, McCalmon (9-2) allowed a run in the fourth but reliever Ashley Sissel shut down the Crimson to earn her first save of the year. The sophomore entered with a two-run lead after the Big Green posted three runs in fifth.
With one out, Dyson singled to left field and then Madill crushed a ball over the center field wall to take a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Maddie Damore brought in the third run on a single through the right side.
Sissel faced a bit of trouble in the fifth, when Zoe Galindo tripled, followed by a walk to Katherine Lantz and a single by Andrea Del Conte to load the bases. However, the hard-throwing Sissel forced a pair of pop outs to end the inning unscathed.
The Big Green added an insurance run in the seventh on Damore's third hit of the contest and second RBI with a double to center field.
Harvard's Gabrielle Ruiz (0-3) was on the hook for three of the four runs allowed. Ricciardone finished her career in a relief role and allowed the final Big Green run in the seventh. She also drove in Harvard's lone run in the fourth on a ground out.
Dartmouth will host Penn in the 2015 Ivy League Softball Championship Series next weekend (May 2-3) at Dartmouth Softball Park. This will be the third straight season that the Big Green and Quakers will vie for the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. In the previous two championship meetings, the series went the distance with the home team capturing the crown on its home turf.
Game One is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the second game 30 minutes after the completion of the opener. If a third game is needed, it will be played on Sunday, May 3 at a time yet to be determined. The Ivy League Digital Network will broadcast the entire series.
