JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three members of the Dartmouth men's track & field competed on the final day of the NCAA East Regional Saturday at North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
Juniors Curtis King and Joe Chapin ran in the national semifinal of the 5000m. King finished in 19th place in 14:23.07, while Chapin claimed 34th with a 14:45.40 to his credit. Unfortunately for the duo, neither was able to crack the top-12 and earn a berth to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Eugene, Oregon, on June 10-13.
In one of the earlier events, senior Silas Talbot ran a 3:45.99 in the 1500m to finish 17th, improving on his time from Thursday by five seconds. However, like King and Chapin, that finish was another enough to help Talbot punch his ticket to Oregon as his outstanding two-sport (cross country/track & skiing) career at Dartmouth came to a close Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville.
