HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men opened 2016 with a win at home Sunday afternoon at the 47th Annual Dartmouth Relays at Leverone Field House.
The Big Green finished the day with 164 points, 99 ahead of second-place Southern Connecticut.
Leading the way was a school-record performance in the pole vault from Max Cosculluela. The junior cleared 16-7.50/5.07m to win the event by more than a foot and set a new Dartmouth standard in the event.
The win was the fifth straight for the Big Green in their annual showcase home meet. In all, Dartmouth claimed seven event wins on the day.
The mile saw Joe Chapin lead the way in 4:12.60 with Connor Clark (4:15.23) and Curtis King (4:15.88) taking second and third, respectively. The Green also owned the 60m hurdles, claiming the top four spots with Ben Colello's 8.18 good for the win.
Dartmouth also got wins in the 800m (Reed Horton, 1:56.01), triple jump (Corey Muggler, 48-7.25/14.81m), 3000m (Julian Heninger, 8:19.66) and 4x400m relay (3:22.43).
In addition to the first-place showings, 19 individuals finished in the top-four of the respective events as well as a second-place showing for the 4x800m (7:54.50).
The Big Green remain home the next two weekends with meets at Leverone on Saturday Jan. 16 and 23.
