Home the Rest of January
• After playing six of its last eight games on the road, Dartmouth gets a chance to thrill the home crowd with a five-game homestand to finish the month of January, beginning with a rematch of last season's CIT game against Canisius.
• The Big Green opened up Ivy League play on Saturday, playing the five-time defending champion, Harvard, down to the wire before faltering, 77-70.
• Sophomore Miles Wright, Dartmouth's second-leading scorer at 13.8 ppg, produced a team-high 23 points for his second 20-point effort of the season, plus had three blocks and four steals.
• The Big Green's leading scorer on the year, freshman Evan Boudreaux, also topped 20 points by hitting black jack to go with 10 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season.
• Boudreaux was chosen as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after posting averages of 19.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg in two games, his fifth weekly honor of the year.
• Senior Kevin Crescenzi chipped in a season-high 11 points.
• The offense has picked up a bit lately, averaging 73.3 points in the last four contests.
• Dartmouth has dropped its last three games and six of its last seven, but is 3-2 at Leede Arena this season.
Series vs. Canisius
• Dartmouth and the Golden Griffins have played six times previously, splitting the contests down the middle, but the first trip to Hanover for the MAAC school.
• Canisius defeated the Big Green in the CIT last March, 87-72, in Dartmouth's first postseason appearance in 56 years.
• Jamal Reynolds had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Zach Lewis added 20 for the Griffs in the showdown last March.
• Dartmouth got 15 points from Gabas Maldunas and Alex Mitola, the latter reaching 1,000 points for his career in his final Big Green game.
• Head coach Paul Cormier is 4-13 against Canisius in his career, with the first 16 games coming during his seven-year stint as head coach at Fairfield.
Scouting the Golden Griffins
• The 7-9 Golden Griffins had early-season victories against Cornell (87-62) and Monmouth (96-86), but have lost three of their first four MAAC games, including the last two at home.
• Canisius averages 82.9 points a game, led by Malcolm McMillan at 16.6 ppg who does a bit of everything as he leads the team in assists (70) and free throw percentage (.808) while ranking second in blocks (11) and third in steals (14).
• Four players have hit at least 20 three-pointers, led by Kassius Robertson's 42, and the Golden Griffins knock down nearly 10 per game at a solid 34.6 percent clip.
• Dartmouth will need to exploit their defense that allows opponents to shoot 48.9 percent overall and 38.0 percent from long range.
• Hitting the boards will be key as well to limit second-chance opportunities for the run-and-gun squad and help slow things down. Jamal Reynolds is the top rebounder, pulling down more than half of his 6.9 caroms per game on the offensive end.
• Other players to keep an eye on are Phil Valenti (15.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and Jermaine Crumpton (12.8 ppg).
• Veteran Jim Baron (St. Bonaventure '77) is in his fourth season with Canisius, sporting a 66-50 record, and 29th as a head coach with an overall mark of 455-420 with nine years at his alma mater, 11 at Rhode Island and his first five at St. Francis (Pa.)

Ivy Season Starts with a Loss
For the ninth straight year, Harvard bested the Big Green in the Ivy League opener in a hard-fought 77-70 contest at Lavietes Pavilion on Jan. 9. In three of the last eight years, however, Dartmouth has rebounded to salvage a split with the Crimson, including last year. But the Green have not beaten Harvard at Leede Arena since the 2007-08 season.
Boudreaux Top Rookie for 5th Time
After averaging 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games during the first full week of January, freshman Evan Boudreaux was recognized by the Ivy League as its Rookie of the Week for a fifth time already this year. Only Leon Pattman in 2003-04 has ever earned the honor more times (6) for the Big Green, and the league record is eight, shared by Michael Jordan (no, not that one) at Penn in 1996-97 and Adam Gore at Cornell in 2005-06.
Teammates Top 20
Miles Wright and Evan Boudreaux each topped 20 points in a game for the second time this season when the former dropped 23 (while adding a team-high three blocks and four steals) and the latter 21 in the loss at Harvard on Jan. 9. It was the first time Dartmouth teammates each scored at least 20 points in a game since Tyler Melville '14 and Connor Boehm did so in a 75-68 win over Brown two years ago.
Crescenzi Chips In
Senior Kevin Crescenzi has found his role with the Big Green this year, providing solid ball control and occasional scoring, as he did against Harvard with a season-high 11 points. The 6-3 guard leads Dartmouth in assist-to-turnover ratio with 28 helpers and just 14 miscues as well.
Double-Doubles Are the Rage
For the fourth time this year, freshman Evan Boudreaux registered a double-double with his 21 points and 10 rebounds in the 77-70 loss at Harvard on Jan. 9. That brings Dartmouth's total for the season to seven, the most for the team since the 2011-12 Big Green recorded nine. And the last player to collect more than four double-doubles in a season was Alex Barnett '09 with six in 2007-08 — the year before he won Ivy League Player of the Year honors.
