All-Time Series: Big Green lead 95-86
Last Meeting: January 9, 2016 — Harvard 77, Dartmouth 70
All Ivy, All the Time
• With the final non-conference game in the books, Dartmouth can focus squarely on the remaining 13 games on Ivy League schedule, beginning with the five-time defending champion, Harvard.
• The Big Green offense has come alive of late, scoring at least 70 points in each of the four games in 2016, topping 80 three times and setting school records with 121 points and 50 field goals versus Division III Pine Manor last Saturday.
• Dartmouth's top scorer, freshman Evan Boudreaux at 15.8 ppg, has produced double-figure point totals in the last six games while matching a season high with 25 against the Gators in just 14 minutes.
• Joining Boudreaux above 10 ppg are sophomore wing Miles Wright at 13.1 and senior forward Connor Boehm at 10.8.
• Boudreaux was one of six Big Green players to have at least 10 points, including reserve forward Wesley Dickinson who had a career-high 14 points while hitting all six field goal attempts.
• As a team, Dartmouth has converted at least 45 percent of its field goals in five of the last six games. The lone exception was against Harvard two weeks ago (.403).
• The Big Green are one of three teams in the Ivy League shooting at least 70 percent at the foul line (.717). Only Columbia (.729) and Brown (.720) are ahead of them.
Series vs. Harvard
• Dartmouth has a 95-86 advantage all-time after ending a personal 11-game skid against the Crimson with a 70-61 road victory last year.
• Harvard returned the favor in a hard-fought, 77-70 triumph in Cambridge two weeks ago as neither team built a lead into double digits.
• Both teams had teammates score at least 20 points with Miles Wright (23) and Evan Boudreaux (21) doing so for Dartmouth, and Agunwa Okolie (29) and Patrick Steeves (20) both tallying career highs for the Crimson.
• At Leede Arena, Dartmouth has a 10-18 mark against Harvard, but its last win in the series at home came eight years ago in a 73-56 triumph.
• While Dartmouth dominated the first 60 years of the series with a 56-14 record through 1960, the Big Green have mustered just a 39-72 mark since then, including a 6-27 record the last 16 seasons.
• Paul Cormier is 13-15 all-time against Harvard, 11-14 while at Dartmouth.
Scouting the Crimson
• Harvard has overcome a sluggish start (six losses in its first eight games) to win seven of its last nine, including advancing to the Diamond Head Classic against nationally ranked Oklahoma.
• The Crimson have also faced other ranked teams on the road in Kansas (loss by six points) and Providence (loss by 12).
• Defense continues to be a staple of Harvard's, holding the opposition to less than 40 percent shooting and under 30 percent behind the arc.
• Zena Edosomwan averages a double-double at 13.6 ppg and 10.8 rpg, the latter figure leading the Ivy League. He is also an adept passer as he proved with six assists against the Green on Jan. 9.
• The Crimson are deadly from three-point range, shooting 41.2 percent as a team thanks to Corbin Miller (45-of-102, .441), Corey Johnson (40-of-102, .392) and Patrick Steeves (20-of-38, .526).
• A couple of weaknesses for Harvard? Free throw shooting (.611) and turnovers (15.4 per game).
• Tommy Amaker (Duke '87) is in his ninth season at Harvard's helm with a 170-86 record in Cambridge and 346-225 in his career that has taken him to Seton Hall for four seasons (68-55) and Michigan for six (108-84).
Flock to Leede for Wing Night
Fans that come to Leede Arena for the showdown with Harvard will be treated to the Second Annual Hoops & Hot Wings event. Starting at 6 p.m., fans can sample wings from EBA's, Salt hill Pub, the Hanover Co-op and Big Fatty's BBQ (while supplies last) and then vote for the Upper Valley's best chicken wing.
All Remaining Games on ILDN
With only Ivy League games remaining on the docket, Dartmouth fans can enjoy every men's basketball game remaining on the schedule through the wonders of the Ivy League Digital Network, both home and road games. Jay Burnham will call the action at Leede Arena, while the road games will feature the talent provided by the opposing Ivy schools. Be sure to subscribe to see every second of every game the rest of the way!
Topping 70
The Big Green have scored at least 70 points in each of their past four games, something they've done just three times this millennium. Should Dartmouth reach 70 points today against Harvard, it would mark the first five-game stretch of 70 or more points since January of 2001.
Team Scoring Record
With the 121-56 victory over Division III Pine Manor on Jan. 16, Dartmouth shattered the program's scoring record of 112 that was set against Keene State on Nov. 23, 1999. The Big Green also set a new record for field goals in a game (50), while the 65-point margin of victory was the third-largest ever at Dartmouth, but largest in over 90 years.
Dunk Tank
After the 121-56 win over Pine Manor, perhaps Leede Arena should be known as the Dunk Tank. Entering the game, Dartmouth had recorded nine dunks in the first 14 games. Against the Gators, the Big Green bested that total with a school-record 10 jams by five different players, four by junior Wesley Dickinson alone. The forward is now 7-for-7 from the floor this year (6-for-6 in the game) with five dunks. Brandon McDonnell leads the team with seven slams overall.
On the Rebound
The Big Green dominated Pine Manor on the glass, grabbing 59 rebounds to just 17 for the visitors, their most since setting the school record with 62 against Holy Cross on Jan. 31, 1994. And the rebound margin of 42 is the largest in program history.
The Countdown is at 23
Senior Connor Boehm just missed out on a double-double against Pine Manor, despite playing just 13 minutes with 12 points and nine rebounds. He enters the Harvard game needing 23 points to become the 28th player in program history to tally 1,000 in a career. Even if he doesn't get 23 against the Crimson, Boehm will reach a milestone today as this is his 100th career game.
