HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 41 Dartmouth men's tennis team fell to No. 53 Penn State, 4-2, at the Boss Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Green dipped to 3-1, while the Nittany Lions improved to 2-0.
“This was a hard-fought college match across the board,” head coach Chris Drake said. “I thought both teams competed extremely well. Hats off to Penn State; they executed very well in the biggest moments of the match.”
Freshman Roko Glasnovic and junior Max Schmidt picked up the lone doubles win at the No. 2 position, defeating Leonard Stakhovsky and Constant De La Bassetiere by a score of 6-2.
At No. 2 singles, sophomore Ciro Riccardi had a 6-2, 6-1 win over No. 120 Aws Laaribi and, at the No. 4 position, fellow sophomore Max Fliegner defeated No. 99 Matt Barry, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Junior George Wall looked to get another point for Dartmouth after falling in the first set to Tomas Hanzlik, 3-6, and picking up the second set, 6-4, but the two were tied at 4-4 when Penn State got its fourth point and the match was suspended.
Next weekend, the Big Green will host No. 35 Drake and No. 37 Tulane.
