The Maine Attraction
• Dartmouth has lost its first seven games of the season for the first time since 1977-78, but it has beaten Maine in each of the last four meetings. Something has to give …
• On Wednesday, the Big Green lost to their Twin State rival, Vermont, 73-58, their ninth straight defeat against the Catamounts.
• Wesley Dickinson and Evan Boudreaux led Dartmouth with 10 points apiece. While it was a season high for the former, it was a season-low for the latter.
• Boudreaux also had 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the year. The sophomore has topped the team in scoring and rebounds in each of the first seven games this season.
• Freshman Brendan Barry got his first extended action, and he made the most of it with nine points and a pair of assists in 24 minutes.
• Ike Ngwudo showed off some range against Vermont, draining both of his three-point attempts to match his career total entering the game.
• When Miles Wright drilled a three-point shot in the second half, it gave him exactly 600 in his career, making him the active team leader (Boudreaux is sitting at 597).
• Rookie James Foye collected his first collegiate points with a trifecta in the final minute of play.
Series vs. Maine
• With wins in each of the last four meetings, Dartmouth has taken the all-time lead in the series against Maine, 12-10.
• Those four wins over the Black Bears have come in each of the past four seasons, winning twice at home (67-54 in 2012-13, 74-51 in 2014-15), and twice in Bangor (81-56 in 2013-14, 79-69 last year).
• The other games in the series this millennium also came in three straight years, 2003-05. Each team won on the other's home court before Maine won an encounter in Portland, 64-55.
• The Big Green are 5-5 in Hanover against Maine and 3-2 in Leede Arena.
Dartmouth is 116-107 against current America East schools with most of those games coming against UNH (32-34) and Vermont (57-44).
Scouting the Black Bears
• Maine is coming off a 55-53 victory over Holy Cross on Wednesday to improve to 3-6.
• Its only other win over a Division I opponent came against a team that defeated Dartmouth — 80-58 at Longwood.
• The Black Bears are not afraid of shooting from behind the arc, averaging nearly nine three-pointers and over 25 attempts.
• Ilker Er from Turkey is the chief marksman with 25 triples at a 41.0 percent clip, though 10 other players have hit at least one from downtown.
• While Er is scoring 11.2 ppg, Wes Myers leads Maine at 12.2, partly due to his proclivity at the foul line (37-of-45, .822).
• Both Myers and Ryan Bernstein boast an assist-to-turnover ratio of better than 2-to-1 with 21 dimes apiece, though Jaquan McKennon leads the squad with 22 dishes.
• Though the Black Bears don't have a dominant rebounder, they have grabbed about two more caroms a game, led by Andrew Fleming at 5.6 rpg.
• Opponents have shot quite well against the Maine defense at 46.5 percent overall, nearly 40 percent from distance and 78.2 percent at the line.
• Bob Walsh is in his third year as Maine's head coach with a 14-55 record after a very successful nine-year stint at Rhode Island College where he was 204-63 and made eight straight trips to the NCAA D-III Tournament.

Skid Reaches Seven
The 73-58 loss at Vermont extended Dartmouth's season-opening skid to seven games, its longest to start a season in 39 years. The 1977-78 squad dropped its first eight before getting off the schneid against Amherst. Good news for Big Green fans about the ignominious start is that Dartmouth went on to win 10 games, including a double-overtime triumph over today's opponent, Maine.
Evan Almighty
After earning the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and a spot on the USBWA All-District I Team last year, sophomore Evan Boudreaux is putting together quite the sequel thus far. The 6-7 forward has led the team in both scoring and rebounding in each of the first seven contests. His most recent performance included his third double-double of the season — and 13th of his career — with 10 points and 10 rebounds at Vermont on Dec. 7. His 17.0 points per game ties him for third in the Ivy League, while his 8.7 rebounds a night lead the loop.
Barrying Three-Pointers
After playing just 14 minutes in the first six games, freshman Brendan Barry got an extended look at Vermont, acquitting himself quite nicely. The rookie played 24 minutes, running the point for most of that time, and scored nine points with two long three-pointers to go with a pair of assists and just one turnover. For the season, he is 5-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-4 from distance. Just imagine what he can do if he can keep up those percentages …
Senior Forwards Make Their Mark
The duo of Wesley Dickinson and Ike Ngwudo entered the game at Vermont having scored a combined 30 points this season (5.0 per game). In the first half alone, they accounted for 14 of the Big Green's 23 points as Ngwudo posted eight points while matching his career total of two three-pointers, and Dickinson provided six points of his own. The latter went on to score a season-high 10 points, just the third game of his career in double figures.
Rookie Debuts
Through five games, three of the six freshmen on the roster had played in at least two games. At Boston College, it was time for Will Emery and James Foye to make their collegiate debuts. Emery grabbed an offensive rebound and converted 3-of-4 free throws in three minutes of action, and although Foye did not have any stats in two minutes on the court, he did drain a three-pointer the very next game at Vermont for his first career points.
Boudreaux Getting Board
With his 10 rebounds at Vermont on Dec. 7, Evan Boudreaux led the Big Green in rebounding for the 19th consecutive game in which he has played. Against Boston College he recorded the 300th rebound of his career, and he has topped the team on the glass 28 times in 34 games.
