THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's hockey team plays host to Union and Rensselaer this weekend at Thompson Arena in a pair of crucial ECAC Hockey games.

LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green split on the road last weekend against ECAC and Ivy foes Yale and Brown. The 11th-ranked Bulldogs defeated Dartmouth, 5-1, on Friday night at Ingalls Rink in New Haven before the Green and White bounced back with a 6-3 win at Brown's Meehan Auditorium the following evening in Providence.

SCOUTING UNION
The Dutchmen come to Hanover for the second time this season after having won a pair of games to start January at the Ledyard Classic. Union currently is in the midst of a three-game winless stretch that includes a pair of ties. Last weekend, the Dutch fell at home to Clarkson, 4-1, before salvaging a 3-3 tie the next night with St. Lawrence. Those results have Union at 10-10-8 overall, but just 3-8-5 in ECAC Hockey games, giving it 11 points and ninth place in the standings. Sophomore Spencer Foo leads the team with 12 goals and 25 points with his 13 assists trailing only junior Mike Vecchione by one.

SCOUTING RENSSELAER
Saturday's game carries a bit more importance for the Big Green in terms of positioning in the league standings as the Engineers are tied with Dartmouth and St. Lawrence for fourth place with 18 points each coming into the weekend. RPI is 14-10-6 overall and 6-4-6 in ECAC Hockey tilts after suffering a weekend sweep at home and a loss at Yale the previous Saturday night for a three-game skid. Prior to the current rough patch, the lone league loss the Engineers suffered this season came at home to Dartmouth on Dec. 4, falling, 2-1.

WHERE WE STAND
The Big Green are currently receiving votes in the USCHO national poll after earning the No. 20 ranking last week. In the Pairwise — the system used to most closely mimic the NCAA Tournament selection process — Dartmouth is 14th. Currently in a three-way tie with Rensselaer and St. Lawrence for fourth place in ECAC Hockey standings, the Green's nine wins are the second most of any team in the league.

“JPR”
The Big Green will wear patches with the initialS “JPR” on them for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. The patches are to honor the late Jack Riley '44 who passed away earlier this month. A former Dartmouth captain and longtime coach of Army, Riley was an American hockey icon, leading the US to the Olympic Gold in 1960.

SIX-PLUS AGAIN
The Big Green scored at least six times against the Bears for the fourth straight game with the 6-3 win at Meehan. Dartmouth swept the season series for the second straight year, scoring 25 goals in the four games. This season, Dartmouth defeated Brown at home, 7-3, before the most recent lopsided win in Providence.

SHORTY
Tim O'Brien's second-period shorthanded goal was the first of the season for the Big Green. The last time Dartmouth netted a goal down a man was on Jan. 30, 2015 at home against RPI when Kyle Nickerson slipped in behind the defense on a faceoff and put home a point shot from Josh Hartley.

100 GAMES AND COUNTING!
Three players joined the 100-games played club on the Yale/Brown trip. Ryan Bullock and Jack Barre reached the milestone on Friday in New Haven with the former doing so on his 23rd birthday. Brett Patterson accomplished the feat the following night up I-95, registering a pair of assists in the process.

No. 4!
Kevan Kilistoff's second career tally came late in Dartmouth's four-goal second period at Brown. The marker saw the freshman put the puCK between a defenseman's legs before he fired a shot under the bar. It earned him the No. 4 spot in the NCAA's Plays of the Week, the Green's second appearance on the list this week.

POINT STREAK
With a goal and an assist against Brown, Jack Barre extended his current point streak to five games, which is the longest by any Dartmouth player this season. In that stretch, Barre has four goals and four assists for eight points.

WHAT A LINE
The Barre-Carl Hesler-Kevin Neiley line has been one of the top point producers in ECAC Hockey recently. On the road trip to Yale and Brown, the trio combined for three goals and two assists with Hesler scoring in both games. In 11 games together, the line has a combined 13-20-33 scoring line, while the team is 7-3-1.

OK, EXCLUDING THOSE THREE…
Dartmouth is 9-1-0 against ECAC Hockey teams outside of Quinnipiac, Yale and Harvard — the top three teams in the conference standings. The lone loss outside of those three came against Friday's opponent Union on Dec. 5 in Schenectady, 3-0.

HOME IN HANOVER
Dartmouth is 7-3-0 this season at Thompson Arena, ranking amongst the top programs in the country in terms of success on home ice. The Big Green are averaging nearly two goals more per game in Hanover than on the road, a key fact to take into account given they play four of their six remaining games at home in 2015-16.

KRUGS IN THE CREASE
Making his first appearance since Nov. 27 at Michigan, James Kruger came into the Yale game early in the second period. He made 22 saves in nearly 40 minutes of action against the Elis before making 30 saves in a win the next night at Brown.

THE LINE IS FROM 3 TO 4
Dartmouth is a much more successful team when limiting opponents to three or fewer goals this season, posting a 12-2-1 mark in those games. On the flip side, when opponents have reached four goals or more in a game, the Big Green are 0-8-0.

NO DRAWS FOR YOU!
Dartmouth is the only team in ECAC Hockey without a conference tie this year. The Big Green are one of just six teams from across the team with one or fewer draws as Colorado College, Mercyhurst, Nebraska Omaha and St. Cloud all have just one, while Minnesota is the only draw-less program in Division I. Minnesota's starting goalie is Eric Schierhorn, the younger brother of Dartmouth captain Brad Schierhorn. On the other end of the spectrum, Union leads the nation in ties with eight, while RPI's six in league games are the most in ECAC Hockey.
