THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's hockey team plays host to Colgate and Cornell in the final regular season home weekend of 2015-16.
LAST TIME OUT
Once again, the Big Green split a pair of ECAC Hockey games at Thompson last weekend, dropping a 4-1 decision to Union on Friday before rebounding to defeat Rensselaer, 2-1, in overtime on Saturday.
SCOUTING COLGATE
The Raiders are in the midst of a rough patch having lost two straight and six of their last seven outings. The second of those six losses came on Jan. 23 at the hands of the Big Green who overcame an early two-nil deficit to defeat the Raiders at Starr Rink, 3-2. The Spink twins lead the way for Colgate in their season. Tyson's 30 points are a team high, while tied with Mike Borkowski with 12 goals. Tylor is tied for the team lead in assists with his brother as they both have 18 in 30 games so far.
SCOUTING CORNELL
The Big Red have just one win in their last 10 games (1-6-3), but are still No. 16 in the latest USCHO national poll. That victory was a 1-0 shutout at Princeton on February and came under the guidance of associate head coach Ben Syer who was filling in for an under-the-weather Mike Schafer. In the previous meeting between these two back on Jan. 22 in Ithaca, Dartmouth came away 3-0 winners with Charles Grant picking up his second career shutout at Lynah Rink. Junior Jeff Kubiak leads the Red in scoring this season with 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists. Goaltender Mitch Gillam has played nearly 95 percent of the minutes this season with a 2.02 goals against average and a .929 save percentage to show for it.
THE CLASS OF 2016
Following the Cornell game on Saturday night, Dartmouth will recognize the 10-members of the senior class playing their final regular season home weekend. The 10 players tie the Big Green with Miami for the largest group of seniors of any Division I team this year.

WHERE WE STAND
As it stands heading into the weekend, Dartmouth is currently tied for fifth in ECAC Hockey with Rensselaer as each team has 20 league points. The Green and White are just two points behind fourth-place St. Lawrence and three-back of Harvard in third. However, despite its current placement in the standings, Dartmouth is only one point ahead of Clarkson (7th) and two in front of Cornell (8th).
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
Troy Crema's goal with 1:08 in overtime not only helped Dartmouth salvage a weekend, but also marked the first OT win against RPI in program history. The Big Green were 0-7-5 all-time against the Engineers in sudden-death situations. The last time these two teams went to overtime was a Feb. 8, 2008 game in Troy and was the third of three straight ties between the two when contests reached the extra period.
SWEEPS AND SWEPTS
The Big Green are in the midst of a pretty interesting statistical run where they have yet to split with any of the seven ECAC Hockey teams they've played twice this season. Dartmouth has swept Princeton, RPI and Brown, while being swept by Union, Quinnipiac, Harvard and Yale. A positive comes in that Dartmouth has defeated each of the four remaining teams left in its schedule once already this season.
SCHIERHORNS HATE TIES!
Thanks to Crema's goal, Dartmouth remains the only untied team in league play. Dartmouth and Minnesota are the only two teams in the nation without a conference tie in 2015-16. The Big Green are captained by senior Brad Schierhorn, while younger brother Eric is the Gophers' starting goalie as a freshman this season.
HEY FRIDAY, YOU STINK!
Since the start of January, Dartmouth is 10-4-0. All four losses have come on Friday nights, including the last three games in the work-week finale.
HEY SATURDAY, WE'RE FRIENDS NOW!
Dartmouth is 6-0-0 in Saturday games since the calendar changed to 2016. That ties Boston College for the best record by any team in the nation on any given day. The Eagles are also 6-0-0 on Fridays since the start of the New Year. In contrast, the Big Green were 0-4-1 on Saturdays during the 2015 portion of this season's schedule.
SEEING SOME SHOTS
Senior James Kruger needed to make just 18 saves in picking up the overtime win against the Engineers. Dartmouth's defense limited RPI to just 19 total shots on goal in the game and just two in a 30-minute span from the start of the second period through the middle of the third.
WHAT'S OVERTIME?
Dartmouth has now played just two OT games this season and are 1-0-1 (tied at Michigan). Only Colorado College and St. Cloud have played in fewer OT games this season as each have made it to the extra period just once, both ties.
WORTH THE WAIT
Senior Ryan Bullock finally got on the board Saturday night with his first goal of the season. Bullock's blast from the point on the power play tied the game with RPI with just 8:43 remaining in regulation.
NOT REALLY A SLUMP
For the first time since the start of January, Jack Barre and Carl Hesler were held scoreless in consecutive games on the same weekend. Both were held without a point in the Ledyard finale against Merrimack and again the next weekend in the 1-0 loss at Vermont.
THOMPSON AT 40
The weekend with Colgate and Cornell marks the final regular season home games at Thompson during its 40th anniversary season. Dartmouth is currently 8-4-0 at home this season, the fourth-best overall home record of any ECAC team this season.
POINT STREAKS
Junior Grant Opperman and senior Brett Patterson each have three-game point streaks coming into the weekend, both of which are the longest such streaks for each. Patterson assisted on Opperman's goal against Union on Friday, and then again on Bullock's tally against RPI. Opperman also had an assist on the Bullock goal, feeding Patterson at the point to set up the eventual one-timer.
STATE MVP
In honor of Hockey Weekend Across America, College Hockey Inc., revealed its state-by-state MVP list that recognizes the top contributors in Division I men's hockey from each state this season. Jack Barre was named the MVP of Connecticut as the top Nutmegger in Division I.
