Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1

HANOVER, N.H. – After losing the doubles point, the No. 40 Dartmouth men's tennis team came back to win the first five singles matches to defeated No. 45 Minnesota, 5-2, at the Boss Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Big Green improved to 8-4, while the Gophers fell to 3-6.
“We did a nice job tonight coming out strong and confident in singles after having a sub-par performance in doubles,” head coach Chris Drake said. “Our guys expanded leads and finished matches in straight sets. That can often be the difference between victory and defeat in a college tennis match.
At No. 1 doubles, senior Dovydas Sakinis and freshman Roko Glasnovic had a 6-2 win over Marino Alpeza and Ruben Weber, but Minnesota victories at the No. 2 and 3 positions gave the first point to the visitors.
Trailing by one, the Green turned things around by winning five straight singles matches. Glasnovic got things started with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Jeremy Lynn at the No. 6 position to go undefeated on the day. Sophomore Ciro Riccardi took down Weber, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2, while classmate Max Fliegner defeated Josip Krstanovic, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 3 position.
Freshman Eddie Grabill clinched the win for the home team with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Alpeza at the No. 5 position and junior George Wall added one more for good measure when his opponent retired in the early stages of the third set.
Next Saturday, Feb. 27, Dartmouth will host St. John's at 12 p.m. and Sacred Heart at 5 p.m. before going on a seven-match road trip through Texas, Tennessee and New York.
