Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1

HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 38 Dartmouth men's tennis team continued with its winning ways by sweeping St. John's, 4-3, and Sacred Heart, 7-0, at the Boss Tennis Center on Saturday. The Big Green are now 10-4 on the season.
“We had a great start to singles against St. John's today,” head coach Chris Drake said. “To lose the doubles point and then completely switch the momentum of the match by winning the first sets on all six courts against a good team speaks to our team's resilience and character. We weren't at our best in doubles in either match today, but in singles, we demonstrated the tenacity and focus that it takes to win college tennis matches. We will now turn our focus to getting prepared for a challenging Spring Break slate of matches.”
In the first match of the day against St. John's, the Red Storm grabbed the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and 3 positions, but strong singles play by the Green gave the match to the home team in the end. Among the winning matches were a a three-set defeat of Daniel Skripnik by senior Dovydas Sakinis at the No. 1 position (6-3, 3-6, 6-4), and a 6-1, 7-6(5) victory over Andrei Crapcenco by junior George Wall at No. 4. This was the second time in the past two weeks that Dartmouth has played – and defeated – St. John's.
Later in the day, the Big Green swiftly won their match against the Pioneers to complete the weekend sweep. Switching around the lineups in doubles, Wall and senior Brendan Tannenbaum played at the No. 1 position together for the first time this season and had a 6-4 win over Brian Power and Matt Dean, 6-4, while junior Max Schmidt and sophomore Max Fliegner had a 7-6(3) victory over Cory Seltman and Mathieu Pilote-Schraenen at No. 2. At the No. 3 position, freshmen Joey Haig and Roko Glasnovic defeated Karan Narula and Derek Chapman, 6-2.
In singles action, sophomores Aman Agarwal and Paul Midgley returned to the lineup to pick up wins for Dartmouth. At No. 5, Agarwal had a 6-1, 6-3 win over Pilote-Schraenen and, at the No. 6 position, Midgley took down Seltman, 6-1, 6-0.
The Green will take two weeks off from competition before going on a seven-match road trip through Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and New York.
