Men's Tennis Sweeps Penn and Princeton For 2-0 Start To Ivy Play

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's tennis team opened Ivy League play with a pair of victories this weekend, defeating Penn, 5-2, on Saturday before edging Princeton, 4-3, on Sunday. Both matches came down to the final points as the Big Green improved to 2–0 in conference play.
Dartmouth set the tone both days by securing the doubles point. The duos of Henry Ren and Miles Groom and Adrian Treacy and Malhar Patel each earned victories against Penn and Princeton, helping the Big Green gain early momentum in both matches.
Against Penn on Saturday, Dartmouth collected three singles victories to secure the 5-2 result. Miles Groom earned a straight-set win at No. 2 singles, while Yujiro Onuma added another point with a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Leo Pade clinched the match for the Big Green with a comeback win at No. 5 singles, rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 decision.
Groom again delivered at No. 2 singles on Sunday at Princeton, battling to a three-set victory, while Treacy secured a straight-set win at No. 5.
The deciding point, again, came from Pade at No. 6 singles. Locked in a third-set tiebreak, Pade trailed 1-5 and faced four match points before making an impressive comeback. He rallied to win the tiebreak 10-8, clinching the 4-3 victory.
The weekend also featured two significant milestones for the Big Green. Henry Ren surpassed 110 career victories, while Groom reached 150 career wins. Groom finished the weekend with four total victories, bringing his career total to 152 wins, the second-most in Dartmouth men's tennis history.
